Fresh from BlizzCon 2009, Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the third and latest installment in the popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). The gaming virtual world which everyone has loved returns to deliver a strong punch once again for its loyal and devoted fan base as a follow up to “Wrath of the Lich King.”
Azeroth, the primary milieu of World of Warcraft, is left ravaged and razed by recent events in the gaming universe. Gamers can now continue to follow the narratives and battles in this contested land. To add further to the excitement, Blizzard Entertainment is unlocking two additional character races: the Goblins and the Worgen.
Here is the primary teaser to the expansion game direct from the official site of World of Warcraft: Catacylsm followed by the high definition trailer:
“An ancient evil lies dormant within Deepholm, the domain of earth in the Elemental Plane.
Hidden away in a secluded sanctuary, the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing has waited, recovering from the wounds of his last battle against Azeroth and biding his time until he can reforge the world in molten fire.
Soon, Deathwing the Destroyer will return to Azeroth, and his eruption from Deepholm will sunder the world, leaving a festering wound across the continents. As the Horde and Alliance race to the epicenter of the cataclysm, the kingdoms of Azeroth will witness seismic shifts in power, the kindling of a war of the elements, and the emergence of unlikely heroes who will rise up to protect their scarred and broken world from utter devastation.”
Now isn’t that something to really look forward to? There are more things in store for the latest expansion. The level cap will be raised all the way to 85 so if you think your character’s level deserves better, then this expansion will really deliver. Moreover, there will be more conquests, raids, and dungeons to exercise your gaming abilities.
Don’t look now but there’s a new skill in the block and that is the realm of Archaeology.
So here’s a quick look at the new races: the Goblins and the Worgens.
The Worgens are elements from the Third War as unleashed by Archmage Arugal. They are wolfmen which were initially used as additional reinforcements against the nefarious Scourge. They were afflicted with a curse which made their lives veer away from humans. If you are a Worgen character, here is how your scenario will start from wow.com:
“Krennan Aranas says: I’m not giving up on you, <player>. I don’t have a cure for the Curse yet… but there are treatments. You’ll have control again.”
Lord Godfrey says: Give it up, Krennan. It’s time to put this one down. It’s protocol.
King Genn Greymane says: Tell me, Godfrey. Those that stayed in Gilneas City so that we could live. Were they following protocol?
King Genn Greymane says: I didn’t think so. Now hand me that potion, Krennan… and double the dosage.
As for the Goblins, they were initially slaves of jungle trolls from the Isle of Kezan. However, using them as slaves backfired because while they were mining deep in the mountain of Kajaro, mineral fragments caused their intelligence to sharpen significantly and therefore ascend as a power to be reckoned with.
Now here is how your character starts once you pick the Goblin race, again from wow.com:
“Doc Zapnozzle says: Fajardo, what are you doing just sitting there? Don’t you recognize who that is laying next to you?!
Doc Zapnozzle says: That’s <player>! He’s the whole reason we’re sill breathing and not crispy fried critters back on Kezan.
Geargrinder Fajardo says: That’s <player>?! Sorry, Doc, I thought he was dead!
Doc Zapnozzle says: Stay back, I’m going to resucitate him! I hope these wet jumper cables don’t kill us all!
Doc Zapnozzle says: That’s all I’ve got. It’s up to him now. You hear me <player>? Come on, snap out of it! Don’t go into the light!”
The early signs are very encouraging for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Tune in for more details as the release date is yet to be announced.
