Poser has come a long long way. I remember using it for architectural visualization projects and storyboards for their quick-to-generate and easy-to-customize humans. That was Poser when it was in versions 3 and 4.
Even at the time there was a group of Poser enthusiasts who used Poser to create interesting characters and projects. I remember there was a comic book produced using Poser characters and even a few porn shorts starring Poser characters circulating on the internet!
Almost in a flash Poser was in its 7th version and a global success. Now Poser Pro has made Poser 7 history and the fans of Poser are eagerly anticipating more from the 3D software from Smith Micro Software, Inc.
Apparently, Poser Pro has made the leap from semi-professional to professional this time round. Several of the features in Poser Pro reflect Smith Micro’s determination to make that leap.
Amongst them are scene-hosting plugins for popular 3D environments (no doubt for tighter integretion with existing professional software), new and improved rendering features and image controls.
I think there are enough exciting features to make taking a look at the software worthwhile. At $499.99 USD it’s not too expensive, considering the fact that it can save oodles of time creating and designing characters from scratch!
