It’s safe to say that The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey kicked off this new trilogy to epic proportions. The movie led the way in box office receipts during its run and many welcomed the return of the mythology of the Lord of the Rings. For its accolades-rich story, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has received 3 nominations from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts or BAFTA. The categories are “Sound,” “Special Visual Effects,” and “Hair and Make-Up.”
Adapted from the 1937 follow-up book The Hobbit from J.R.R. Tolkien, the Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released in most theaters on December 12, 2012. The single book will be divided into three movies including this first one and the others bearing the subtitles “The Desolation of Smaug” and “There and Back Again.”
