Glenn Martin, DDS Premieres Aug. 17 on Nick at Nite

Nickelodeon, the number-one ranked cable network for 15 consecutive years, will debut GLENN MARTIN, DDS, the first 3D animation television series to come from Michael Eisner’s Tornante Animation, on Monday, August 17 at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) in its Nick at Nite primetime daypart. A contemporary comedy offering relatable characters and identifiable family situations, the stop-motion primetime series features an all-star voice-over cast that includes Kevin Nealon (WEEDS, ANGER MANAGEMENT) as Glenn Martin, Catherine O’Hara (FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, CHICKEN LITTLE) as Jackie Martin and Judy Greer (27 DRESSES, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT) as Wendy Park. The Martins embark on the ultimate family getaway that hits every obstacle in their path — sometimes literally. Eric Fogel (MTV’s CELEBRITY DEATHMATCH) is an executive producer overseeing animation and Sivert Glarum and Michael Jamin (KING OF THE HILL, JUST SHOOT ME) serve as executive producers and show runners.

Following the series’ August 17 premiere, all-new episodes of GLENN MARTIN, DDS will run that week, August 18-20, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The series will then move to its regular timeslot on Mondays at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) beginning August 24.

“This collaboration with Michael Eisner offers a new twist on the classic family sitcom that tweens and their parents can both enjoy,” said Marjorie Cohn, Nickelodeon’s Executive Vice President, Development and Original Programming. “We look forward to debuting this groundbreaking and much-anticipated series and introduce viewers to Nick at Nite’s new evening line-up.”

“GLENN MARTIN, DDS is a one-of-a-kind series that re-envisions the classic family sitcom,” added Michael Eisner, The Tornante Company. “It’s a perfect addition to Nick at Nite as it delivers humor in a mature, sophisticated manner.”

GLENN MARTIN, DDS follows the offbeat adventures of beleaguered dentist, Glenn, and his family — earnest yet slightly cynical wife, Jackie; hormone-addled son, Conor; power suit-wearing daughter, Courtney; her subservient assistant, Wendy; and family dog, Canine — who trade in the suburbs for a life on the road. Yearning for a deeper connection with his family, Glenn has packed up the Martins in an RV, which doubles as his dentist office, to go cross-country. They are beset by an array of colorful locals and crazy situations on this journey, taking them to places like Las Vegas, the Amish Country, the White House, Atlantic City and Hollywood. The Martins, who put the “fun” in dysfunctional, are a family who loves and can depend on one another, despite all the mayhem.

In addition to the series regulars, who include Peter Oldring (TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND) as 13-year-old Conor Martin and Jackie Clarke (STARVEILLANCE) as 11-year-old Courtney Martin, season one will feature celebrity appearances from Chrissie Hynde, Betty White, Gene Simmons and Wendie Malick, among others, who voice some of the many colorful characters the Martins encounter through their travels.

In the premiere episode, “Amish Anguish,” Glenn realizes his family, consumed by their cell phones, PDA devices and Game Boys, failed to appreciate the beauty of Niagara Falls and teaches them a lesson by stopping for a few days in an Amish village. Unfortunately, his plan backfires when his family enjoys the village more than he does. Glenn must learn to overcome his own fear of technology to save Conor from getting married and escape the Amish country with his family still intact. Additional episodes will chronicle the Martin family adventures as they continue their cross-country journey.

Prior to the August 17 television launch, viewers may visit the series website, GlennMartinDDS.com, which features original content, message boards, video clips, downloadables and actor bios.

My little sister and I recently viewed the previews on nick for Glenn Martin DDS.It was completely inappropriate for a child’s television program. It was violent, and disturbing. It also inplied a mature nature far to much for a childs view. It reffered to gangs and had disgusting images put into the minds of young ones. Im not trying to judge it before i see it but from the bits and pieces of what was seen, were totally mind-boggling. Thanks for your time to read this oponion.

It is being supervised by the creator of MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch and it was described as a re-imagining of a classic family sitcom in a mature and sophisticated way. Plus its timeslot at night makes it targeted for young adults and adults to enjoy. I recommend you watch it first but I appreciate your opinion.

This show looks horrible it putts bad images in childrens minds an takes away innocence of the childs amaginatin, it was horrible when i turnd on my tv and the first thing was to pop up in front of my 7 year old sister was a fork going through some ones eye an blood gushing every wear. im very disopionted in the makers of this awful show.

  4. Aldric Chang Says:

yes i agree. this is bit intense for children. so please make sure the kids are already sleeping when this show runs during midnight. :) Have a nice day.

  6. Reaper Says:

This show is inappropriate for children and shouldn’t be viewed at 8:00 but later.

  7. DDSsucks Says:

this show should be taken off the air ASAP!!!!!!!

This show airs at 7pm where I live! Sandwiched in between episodes of SpongeBob and Fairly Odd Parents—totally when young kids are still watching! Reference last night on it to “pitching a tent” made me turn it off as my 5 year old was still around. Bad choice of show for Nick during this time slot…….needs to be on MUCH later.

  10. Michelle Says:

I am so disgusted. My 8 year old daughter has been watching this show in her room by herself. I thought nothing of it since it is Nick. Tonight I sat down to watch it with her. Now I have to admit that I didn’t realize that Nick at Nite was for older children but since when is making reference to a flasher (pervert) with an erection appropriate for a child of any age. The violence, the talk of marijuana, hell, boobs, boobage and sexual innuendo. I was absolutely horrified. I will no longer allow my child to watch this channel and I am also writing letters to the sponsors of this vile program. By the way this show is also aired on Sunday morning at 11:30am CST.

on tonights episode I heard the word “whore”, beautiful show to be advertising during Spongebob. So basicly Nick execs made the choice to allow the phrase “Choke the Chicken” to be advertised on Glen Martin commercial when my 8 year old is supposed to be safely watching Spongebob. NO MORE NICK IN MY HOUSE

  12. Amber Says:

I agree this show should be aired later at night but honestly i just think nick should get rid of the show period. It’s a terrible show and i can’t even think of anyone that would like it. Nick can do a lot better than that i’m very dissapointed. This is probably one of the most inopropriate shows nick has aired, maybe it could be reconsidered for the cartoon network program “adult swim” if people actually really like this show.

  13. Marge Says:

I am so glad I am not the only parent that is horrified by this show. I agree that it needs to be taken off the air immediately, is completely inappropriately for Nickelodeon, and definitely should not be viewed by children. I suggest all concerned parents need to contact Nickelodeon and voice their opinions about this show being aired to children during prime time hours on a “supposedly” child friendly network.

  14. Betty Silver Says:

I really like this show. Each character is really funny in his/her own way. It’s nice that Jackie’s voice is present. A lot of shows just have the wife as a placeholder. Jackie is hilarious and her POV is interesting…

This show really cracks me up! Bobby Panash… hahahahah! Awesome.

  15. Triston Rogers Says:

this is a great show! Just because these soccer mom’s precious little angels saw some blood doesnt mean you can take this show off the air!

did the chrissie hynde episode come out yet?

  16. Princess Says:

i lke the show & im 15 yrs old, but i think they should take some of the cursing out

  17. t Says:

this show isnt funny at all

  18. t Says:

    at all

  19. AnnoyedParent Says:

I’m sitting with my 5 yo daughter at 8pm watching NICK. Spongebob was on and then this god awful show came on…. When there was a reference to the dentists ORGAN being the largest ORGAN on his body I sat there shocked…then when I heard the word “DOUCHE” I changed the channel immediately and told my daughter she’s not allowed to watch that show anymore! 8PM!!!!!!!

  20. Bambam Alegre Says:

Maybe Nickelodeon feels their target audience is the same as that of Beavis and Butthead.

  21. Joe Says:

This was a terribly unfunny show. The “jokes” were extremely inappropiate for children of ages 1-10, and possibly a bit older than that.
